LIST PICK

BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD TRACK X

Already earmarked as one of 2021's most anticipated debut's, Black Country, New Road's For the first time is due to arrive in just a matter of weeks. Arriving alongside the announcement of a headline livestream at London's Southbank Centre (taking place on the 6th of March), the revered 7-piece have revealed a surprisingly softer piece in 'Track X'. Formed around a watery, delayed guitar line, insect-like strings chirr, whilst staccato sax parts blow throughout. Characterised, as-ever, by vocalist/guitarist Isaac Wood's self-deprecating autobiographical lyrics, there's a noticeably lighter atmosphere on 'Track X'. The band explain: "Track X is a song we first worked on in 2018 but one that never made it out into our live performances. We decided to resurrect it during the recording of For the first time and assemble it in the studio. The story is old but a good one and worth telling. We believe that people will enjoy singing along." For the first time will arrive on the 5th of February. -Holly Mullineaux
